About The Artist

Based in the woods up in the Comeragh Mountains by Waterford's Copper Coast, Kayleigh Regan is the artist behind Petticoat Art Studio.

A graduate of Crawford College of Art & Design with a B.A. in Fine Art, she went on to study Film and TV Production, before eventually going on to receive a second B.A. degree in Early Years Education.

​

Inspired by nature and an interest in local folklore, her work has also been influenced by her career within the early years sector. 

​

Working with preschoolers brought her face to face with the childlike wonder most of us tend to lose as we become adults. Looking at the world through her students eyes to rediscover the magic in daily events.

​

Children will often make connections between themselves and their lives and that of their favourite fairytales and characters with their own imaginative twists.

​

This has led to her trying to look at the world with that child-like wonder and capture the natural magic in everyday life, to bridge the divide between the ordinary and extraordinary like so often seen in fairytales and lore.
